At Saturday’s cross-counrty race at Mt. Carmel, the Hemet High School boys did very well. The Idyllwild contingent, all sophomores, display their medals. The runners and their places are Tanner Torrez (36), Jayden Emerson (6), Nick Browen (72) and Chad Schelly (44). Hemet was sixth overall out of 25 schools throughout Riverside and San Diego counties.
In four years, the Idyllwild Middle School cross-country team has grown from 10 runners to 32, said coach Lee Arnson. He and Misty Hitchcock, both volunteer coaches, have built a thriving sport in Idyllwild that few other Hemet Unified middle schools have. “Every year, the team is bigger and bigger.
