President, Mountain Disaster Preparedness

The Idyllwild Mountain Disaster Preparedness group will nominate a new slate of officers at its next meeting, 6 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 9. The election will be held during the November meeting.

MDP is encouraging more members of the group and the community to take an active role in the organization’s management.

MDP welcomes and seeks interested individuals, especially CERT trained residents or those planning to become CERT trained, to email the Secretary Sherry Edwards at shrlyn@verizon.net with your candidacy and a few words about yourself and your thoughts about MDP and its place in our community.

The offices, for which nominees are sought, include president, vice president, secretary and treasurer.

In addition, there are four director positions available and they oversee the following standing committees: Disaster Aid Station (DAS) Committee; Medical Committee; Communications Committee; Training Committee; and Public Relations and Fundraising Committee.

For more information about the functions for the four offices or about the standing committees, contact MDP by phone 951-659-5642 or email,

Nominations will close at 6:30 p.m., during the Oct. 9 Board meeting. This is a change of day for the meeting, which will start at 6 p.m. at Creekstone Inn.
