A 3.4-magnitude earthquake occurred Sunday morning about 9:15 a.m. The tremor was centered 5 miles southeast of Valle Vista, on the western edge of Rouse Ridge. The tremor was felt as far north as Beaumont.

Gerry High paints a nature scene on the floor inside the Idyllwild Nature Center where he is in the beginning stages of creating an educational exhibit featuring photographic depictions of the ecological and social history of our mountains.
