The Idyllwild Scholarship Fund goes back to 1969 when three students were awarded scholarships — one for $250, one for $100, and one was a desk dictionary. The organization has carried on since then as a federally tax exempt 501(c)3 organization. Annually, contributions are nearly $12,000. Many Idyllwild youth have been awarded scholarships to further their educational goals. Last year the Idyllwild community donated well over $11,000.
Both men — Ryan Mason and Nickolas Melendez — charged with burglary of the Mountain Center Market in September, have pleaded guilty to burglary. Their sentencing has been deferred.
