The Hemet High School Girls Volleyball team is returning to the CIF tournament for the third consecutive year. This time they will face Cathedral Catholic High School from San Diego in a Division III first round match at 7 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 20 at Cathedral Catholic.

ON Saturday, the Lady Bulldogs defeated Saddleback Valley Christian High School from San Juan Capistrano in the Division 4AA championship.
After winning the first game, Hemet lost the next two games, which were nerve wracking according to Hemet Principal Dr. Emily Shaw. The players recovered the style and won the match 3-2 (25-20, 15-25, 23-25, 25-22 and 15-10).

In the CIF state championship round, 16 teams compete for the state championship — eight from the north and eight form the the south. In the southern California bracket, Cathedral Catholic is seeded number one and Hemet is the eighth seed.

Nearly a year ago, Hemet’s state tournament trip ended here. Cathedral Catholic swept Hemet 3-0. The game scores were 25-9, 25-18 and 25-14.
