The Hemet Unified School Board decided to appoint the replacement for resigning trustee Bill Sanborn.

Applications are available on the District’s website www.hemetusd.k12.ca.us, at the district office at 1791 W. Acacia Ave., Hemet or from Superintendent Dr. Barry Kayrell’s office, which can be reached at (951) 765-5100 ext. 1001.

The submission period began, Wednesday, May 9 and applications must be returned to the District’s Professional Development Service Center at 1791 W. Acacia Ave., by 5 p.m., Wednesday, May 22.

Applicants must be residents of Trustee Area 1 (click here to see map).

The District stressed that applications received after the deadline will not be considered.

Interviews may occur at the June 4 Board of Trustees meeting.

“We hope to make the decision in June and give the oath office before the July 16 meeting,” said Marilyn Forst. President of the HUSD Governing Board.

The board choose to make an appointment for the remainder of Sanborn’s term because, “It’s a lot less expensive than holding a special election,” Forst said.

Sanborn was re-elected in 2010. His current term of office expires Dec. 5, 2014.
