Micah Hitchcock is all smiles as he and fellow students file out of the Idyllwild School gym after the eighth-grade promotion ceremony Wednesday evening.

Eighth-graders begin their trek into the Land of Oz after their promotion, and the eating, dancing and fun begin.

The first dance of the eighth-grade dance and the kids crowd the floor, playing with balloons, laughing, talking and dancing in the Land of Oz.
