Cal Trans Public Information Officer Joy M. Sepulveda reported that Highway 243 may re-open Saturday, Aug. 17.

A subcontractor was to begin repairing the metal beam guardrail Wednesday, Aug. 14, and will be working 12 hours shifts from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Highway 243 is estimated to be open by Saturday.

An emergency project to clean up and repair the damage the Silver Fire caused on Highway 243 has been awarded to Griffith Construction of Citrus Heights. The $1.2 million contract will include repairing and replacing metal beam guardrails and reflective markers.
