Idyllwild Garden Club
Christine Lampe will talk on bee-friendly gardening at the next Idyllwild Garden Club meeting.
The meeting begins at noon Tuesday, April 1, in the lower back of Idyllwild Community Presbyterian Church.
Gary Parton of Idyllwild has donated a 15-gallon blooming lilac to be raffled at the event.
The IGC-member potluck lunch is free to all attendees.

The Astronomical Society of the Desert will conduct sky tours and direct observations of the night sky through telescopes and giant binoculars from 8 to 10 p.m. Saturday, April 5.

Northern San Jacinto Valley
Gordon Pratt and Greg Ballmer, entomologists and butterfly specialists, will identify the butterflies, dragonflies, damselflies and moths hikers might see in the San Jacinto Wildlife Area from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, March 29.
David Bramlet and Patrick Temple, botanists and rare plants of the SJWA specialists, will introduce the main plants of the coastal sage scrub, grasslands, riparian and wetlands habitats of the SJWA. Hopefully, observers will see the San Jacinto Crownscale, Spreading Navarretia and Threadleaved Brodiaea, rarely found outside of the SJWA.
This walk is considered excellent for students of all ages. Bring hand lenses and a butterfly net (optional).
