Several earthquakes occurred on the Hill and in nearby areas in recent days. All were less than 3.0-magnitude.
The most recent and strongest was 2.9-magnitude quake at about 7:40 a.m. Monday, April 14. It was centered 7 miles south southwest of Idyllwild and 10 miles southeast of Valle Vista.
This was the fifth quake in this area over an eight-day period.
The first occurred about 7 p.m. Monday, April 7, when a 2.6-magnitude tremor originated about 11 miles south of Aguanga.
Two days later on Wednesday, April 9, two more quakes shook the Hill softly. About 7:50 a.m., a 2.5-magnitude quake occurred about 3 miles south of Idyllwild and 9 miles east of Valle Vista. The second one that day was magnitude 2.7 and occurred 16 miles northeast of Indio.
On Thursday, April 10, a fourth quake of magnitude 2.3 occurred north of Idyllwild about 3 miles south-southeast of Banning and 8 miles northeast of Valle Vista.
