The Art Alliance of Idyllwild celebrates Summer Solstice on Saturday, June 21, with an early evening opportunity to tour seven Idyllwild galleries, sample refreshments and perhaps see artists at work.

The Sizzling Summer Gallery Tour, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., offers residents and visitors the chance to see art at featured galleries at their leisure, get to know gallery proprietors and do so after the rush of normal business hours. Maps are available at participating galleries that include Acorn, Artspresso, Courtyard, Everitt’s Minerals and Living Room Gallery, Four Corners, Singerton and Spruce Moose. No fee or registration is required for this event.

Bryan Tallent, AAI spokesperson, said the gallery tour is part of a full afternoon and evening of art events. It begins with the breakout of four new wine labels from Middle Ridge Winery based on AAI’s Deer Sightings public art deer project. Held in the gardens of the Idyllwild Area Historical Society Museum from 3 to 5 p.m., this summer kickoff offers wine to sample, appetizers and music by Keith McCabe in a garden setting. Attendees must be ages 21 or over and tickets are available through the AAI website, www.artinidyllwild.org.

Rounding out the day is the Saturday performance of “Into the Woods,” presented by the Idyllwild Master Chorale. (See story page 11.)

Tallent said offering a multi-faceted event on Summer Solstice continues AAI’s mission of partnering with other organizations to enhance the artistic life of the greater Idyllwild community.
