Basketball

Town Hall Sports Coordinator Richard Mozeleski gave these reports on Kids Basketball:

Town Hall hoopsters are now off and running, and I’m emphasing the word “running.” These eight teams are loaded with young future track stars. The up and down on the court is nothing but exciting.

In the 6- to 8-year-olds, Colby Sonnier is averaging 11-plus points over the first three games and has led Jo’An’s Red Dragons to a 3-0 start. No team has found an answer for him yet. However, the American Legion Sea Dragons have been waiting in the wings to get started, and with last year’s leading scorer Meciro Herrington, this week’s match-up between the two teams will be a blur. Stay tuned.

In the 9-11 year olds’ division, the pace is even faster, keeping fans on the edge of their seats. The Red Kettle Heat are off to a 2-0 start behind the 1-2 punch scoring of Cody Fogle and Preston Pino, each taking turns leading in scoring. The other three teams are reloading and have plans of their own to come back and change the course of the Heat’s fast start. The Rotary Storm will meet the Heat Tuesday for their first matchup. Check back next week to see what happened.
