As the Town Crier earlier reported, CBS shot a video a few weeks back with PGA Tour golfer Brendan Steele showing off his Idyllwild hometown.

Footage shot by CBS was used on Sunday, June 7, in the nationally televised show “Coming Home,” which featured Brendan and a few other PGA Tour professionals in their hometown environments. It was used again on Tuesday, June 9, in a Golf Channel “Inside the PGA Tour” feature hosted by Brendan himself.

Those who have seen the videos cannot recall previously seeing Idyllwild displayed so wonderfully on national television.

The video includes Brendan’s parents’ home and the backyard golf practice area they installed when he took up the game at age 13. It also follows the Steele family around a walking tour of the town, with images of the Rustic Theatre, Wooley’s, Higher Grounds and other spots with which we are all familiar, but which millions of viewers nationwide have yet to enjoy in person.

Interior shots of the Candy Cupboard make you wonder if they will begin getting more requests for root beer and cinnamon shaved ice, Brendan’s favorite. And table 25 in the main dining room at Restaurant Gastrognome might now become a favored spot as well.
