This Saturday at the Nature Center, the Junior Naturalists will be learning “What’s Beneath the Earth.” This program will focus on geology and is open to ages 6 to 12. Mentor Sherri Domenigoni will present the program, along with Monique Grover and Lyric Hemmer, summer interns provided by a grant from the The Community Foundation.

On July 25, “The Power of Plants” has interns Haley Neu and Alyssa Ford working with mentors. “Flying with the Birds” on Aug. 1 features bird naturalist Susie Hamson and her interns Monique and Lyric. The final program is Aug. 15, “Can you Relate,” and is all about mammals and fun with mentor Scott Fisher and intern Leela Kintz-Roozen.

The cost is $4 per child and $3 if the family is a member of the Nature Center. All Junior Naturalist programs are on Saturdays from 10 a.m. to noon.

Don’t forget Butterfly Daze Saturday, Aug. 8. From 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., learn about the Monarchs. See them up close in the Butterfly Pavilion as they land on your piece of watermelon. There will be lots of butterfly crafts and games. The summer interns, Haley, Alyssa, Monique, Lyric and Leela, will be helping, too.

The Idyllwild Nature Center is located at 25225 Highway 243 in Idyllwild. The phone number is 951-659-3850.
