Forest Service announces new battalion chief and captains

The retirement of Dan Felix, the San Jacinto Ranger District fire manager at the end of April, created a domino effect within the local district, including the appointment of local Battalion Chief Freddie Espinoza as Felix’s replacement. Espinoza began his new responsibilities May 4.

Last month, the Forest Service announced more changes in the local ranger district. The pattern of promotions has continued in fire staff during the year. Matt Boss, the former Anza captain, is the new battalion chief replacing Espinoza.

And there are several new captains at local ranger stations:

Vista Grande – Kyle Owen – Captain 51

Anza – David Duran – Captain 53

Cranston – Daniel Diaz – Captain 54
