clavio1Luella Hansen Clavio died Monday, Jan. 11, 2016.

A Nebraska farm girl born Feb. 13, 1922, to Danish immigrants, Lu became one of the first women Marines, enlisting in WW II, where she met her clavio2husband of 64 years, Bob. They had three sons, Gary, Tim and Dan Clavio; four grandchildren, Chris Clavio, Brett Clavio, Jennifer Clavio Thies and Kara Noyes; and four great-grandchildren.

After WW II, Lu and Bob raised their family in Rialto, lived in Idyllwild for 30 years and finally lived in Santa Fe, New Mexico, for 12 years.

Lu was a progressive thinker who championed education and human rights. As an avid reader, she “lived a thousand lives.” She was a superb Scrabble player and a devoted member of the Presbyterian Church.

Lu had a great life. She was a lovely person, a great mom and grandma, and a great lady. She will be dearly missed. Interment will be at the National Cemetery in Riverside, at 1:45 p.m. Friday, Feb. 5.
