Brendan Steele is back on the course this week in the $7-million Genesis Open on the Riviera Country Club course in Pacific Palisades. The Idyllwild native has collected five top-20 finishes in seven starts this early season — including three top 10s, one of which was a win.

His performance thus far has earned him berths in the Masters, and likely The (British) Open, and the three remaining World Golf Championship tournaments this year. He’ll also play in The Players Championship and the PGA, and he has a good chance of earning an exemption into the U.S. Open.

Brendan’s tees off No. 1 Thursday at 7:43 a.m., and he goes off No. 10 Friday at 12:23 p.m.
