From 10 a.m. to noon Monday, Feb. 12, an Associates of Idyllwild Arts Foundation meeting will be held at the Fireside Room in the Nelson Dining Hall at the IA campus. Associates are asked to bring their friends. This meeting is free and open to the public.

Mark Davis, director of Summer and Auxiliary programs, and Heather Companiott, director of Adult Art and the Native American Program and Festivals, are speakers.

Davis said there are some “really exciting” upcoming new auxiliary programs. Victoria Chang, who teaches poetry during the Summer Program, will now also head up a poetry retreat, part of the writers workshop, in March at the Creekstone Inn. Registration is now open for this retreat.

Several other new upcoming auxiliary programs include adult and kids dance classes. Don Reed, song writer and performer, will be doing a series of guitar classes. President of the Idyllwild Arts Foundation, vocalist Pamela Jordan, will be teaching group voice classes.

Davis said these auxiliary courses are geared toward Idyllwild and surrounding communities and are at affordable prices. “Idyllwild Arts wants stronger connections in this community,” said Davis.

Summer Program dates are June 10 to Aug. 5. “The Summer Program provides children, teens adults and professional artists practical instruction in all visual arts [headed by David Reid-Marr], performing arts, sculpture, painting, photography, ceramics, jewelry, Native American arts, film and digital media, fashion design, dance, music, theater and creative writing,” according to the idyllwildarts.org website.

All age groups can register now at idyllwildarts.org/registry. All registration and payments must be done online. However, if you would like to contact a live person, you may call or email the summer registrar at 951-468-7265.
