Man rescued from Ernie Maxwell Trail

Cal Fire/Riverside County and Idyllwild Fire departments personnel responded to a report of an injured hiker at Humber Park at 11:37 a.m. Friday, Dec. 28. The incident occurred off of the Ernie Maxwell Trail. It is unclear at this time if the patient was a hiker or a climber.

The 20-year-old male patient with a leg injury was transported by Idyllwild Fire ambulance to Loma Linda University Medical Center.

A medi-vac helicopter was canceled because the canopy was too thick to allow the patient to be hoisted.

Correction: A prior version said a medi-vac helicopter was unable to land at the U.S. Forest Service Keenwild Heliport to transport the patient because no personnel were on duty due to the federal government shutdown.
