On Thursday, March 21, the Idyllwild Community Fund Youth Grantmakers made presentations to five local recipients in a ceremony at Idyllwild School.
YGM is a group from Idyllwild Middle School being sponsored by ICF. Any young person between sixth and eighth grades can participate.
The program gives the youth a chance to learn about how to distribute money among local charities (who formally apply for grants for projects) fairly and also where it will do the most good. Not only do the young people learn about money distribution, they learn about the many local charities that exist to help their community.
Idyllwild School teachers Donna Mercer and Lindsay Baldwin mentor the group.
YGM awarded grants to the following:
• Idyllwild School Booster Club: $900
• Soroptimists International of Idyllwild: $900
• Idyllwild School smARTS program: $800
• Idyllwild Help Center: $700
• Idyllwild PTA Theater: $700
