A multiple vehicle traffic collision occurred last week on Highway 74, according to California Highway Patrol Officer Edward Nunez.
On Friday, Oct. 11 at 11:10 p.m., three vehicles were involved in a collision on Highway 74 east of Lake Hemet. Antonio Alcarez, 24 years old of Perris, was driving east on Highway 74 in a yellow 2004 Ford F-150 when, for unknown reasons, the vehicle crossed the double yellow line into the westbound lane, colliding with two vehicles.
The first vehicle Alcarez hit was a white 2019 Dodge Ram driven by 40-year-old Jason McLean of Idyllwild. The second vehicle hit was a black 2010 Hyundai Tucson, driven by Amanda Giarnese, 49 years old, from Idyllwild.
No one was transported to the hospital. Alcarez complained of pain in his jaw and left ankle. All three vehicles were towed. It is unknown at this time as to whether or not alcohol played a role in the collision.

According to California Highway Patrol Officer Mike Bell, the driver of this vehicle was traveling westbound on Highway 74 near mile marker 61 around 5:18 p.m. Saturday afternoon when she lost control and drifted off the highway. The driver was transported by Idyllwild Fire Protection District ambulance to a nearby hospital for further evaluation. Photo by Jenny Kirchner
