The new bivalent mRNA booster dose versus new Omicron XBB variants

The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) reports that, in persons who had previously received two to four monovalent vaccine doses, early results show that the new bivalent nRNA booster dose provides additional protection against symptomatic XBB/XBB.1.5 infection for at least the first three months after vaccination.

The CDC continues to rate Riverside County among the “low community level” counties in the country. CDC recommended actions for low community levels are: “Stay up-to-date with COVID-19 vaccines. Get tested if you have symptoms. Wear a mask if you have symptoms, a positive test, or exposure to someone with COVID-19. Wear a mask on public transportation. You may choose to wear a mask at any time as an additional precaution to protect yourself and others.”

On Tuesday, Jan. 31, the Hemet Unified School District dashboard reported no cases of COVID among either students or staff members at Idyllwild School. Hamilton elementary reported no students and two staff members with COVID. Hemet High reported two students and no staff members with COVID, while Hamilton secondary reported three students and three staff members with COVID.
