A large amount of trash was left in front of the gate at the Idyllwild Transfer Station Tuesday, Jan. 2, following the New Year’s Day holiday when it was closed and then it is closed Tuesday and Wednesday, too. The accumulation of bags and boxes was likely from any number of sources, but multiple boxes showed addresses, some from Los Angeles, some from San Diego. About a half dozen Idyllwild residents met Tuesday afternoon and hauled a good portion of the bags into the dumpsters and secured the remaining bags with a tarp until employees from the transfer station could address it in the morning.
