carterSteven R. Carter (aka Carter) passed away at the age of 73 from a long battle with COPD on Friday, May 27, 2016.

He was born in Muncie, Indiana, on Jan. 28, 1943, to Beulah and Delbert Carter. His parents moved him and his older brother, Michel, to California where they ultimately settled in Pico Rivera.

Carter attended El Rancho High School where he established lifelong friendships and graduated in 1961.

He met his wife, Nancy, on a blind date. They were wed on June 12, 1965, and celebrated 51 years of marriage.

They had two beautiful children together and later moved to Chino where they raised their kids.

After retirement, they fulfilled a lifelong dream and moved “up the Hill” to Idyllwild, where they spent 13 wonderful years.

Carter’s passions were hunting, camping, barbecuing, fishing on his pontoon boat, showing his fully restored, seven-passenger 1938 Fleetwood Cadillac, and riding around Idyllwild with his dogs in his green golf cart. His biggest passion was sharing all these activities with his friends and family.

He is survived by his beloved wife Nancy; brother Michel (Donna) Carter; nephews Mathew (Sabrina) Carter and Eric Carter; children Scott (Samantha) Carter and Robin Carter; and grandchildren Sean, Shane and Erica.

Carter was a devoted husband, a loving father and a loyal friend, and he will be missed.
