Shanna Robb (left), president of the Art Alliance of Idyllwild, welcomes Skye Zambrana (center) and Colleen Meyer of the Idyllwild HELP Center to the Art Alliance Member Mingle on Thursday, Oct. 20, at Café Aroma. Art Alliance members brought art materials to donate to the HELP Center so they can be distributed to children in need over the holiday season. Boxes to receive more donations will be located at Café Aroma and the Idyllwild Library through the end of October, where even a small donation will help encourage the creativity of Idyllwild children and make their holidays a little brighter. Last Sunday Greyhound Connections sponsored a Greyhound Walk in Idyllwild. Thirty-five greyhounds were in town, featuring some Spanish Galgo Greyhounds. GC is committed to educating the community about former racing greyhounds available for adoption. They frequently participate in public events, street fairs, schools, retirement homes, senior centers, and “Meet and Greets” at local pet stores. Photo by Thomas Pierce

Julie Pendray, a journalist, gave a presentation about restocking towns along the Pacific Crest Trail at the Idyllwild Library on Tuesday evening, Oct. 18. She did extensive personal research into the towns that serve as supply depots for hikers, including Idyllwild, driving along the trail with her cat, Michelle. The Celebration of Sukkot, commemorating the traditional end of the harvest, was observed by members of Temple Har Shalom of Idyllwild Sunday. For one of the elements of the observance, Mountain Center resident Jerry Prager led the blessing of willows, symbolic of trees along the Jordan River where Israelites camped before entering the Promised Land.
