Rich Guzman, 71, loving husband, father and grandfather, died Thursday, June 3, 1999, at his Idyllwild home. He was born April 18, 1928, in Los Angeles. A skilled craftsman, Mr. Guzman worked for 23 years at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena and for 10 years as a self-employed carpenter in the Pasadena area. He retired to Idyllwild in 1994.

Remembered for his luminous smile, his strength and his courage in the face of a long illness, Mr. Guzman is survived by his wife of 51 years, Mary; his son, Richard E. Guzman of Los Angeles; three daughters, Anna Marie Messerly of Los Angeles, Sheila Guzman of Taos, N.M. and Mary Kay Ostlund of Carlsbad; and five grandchildren.
