Idyology celebrated its one-year anniversary under new ownership Saturday night. Live jazz music, free T-shirts and an updated menu were just a few of the night’s highlights. The jazz group was a first for Idyology, and a first for the group as well. The members met each other for the first time that day, and decided to perform together that night. The quartet is Randy Plumber, alto sax, Chris Lee, piano, Curtis Price, bass, and Joannah St, drums. DJ Billy also performed later in the evening to close out the celebration.

Jim La Ponza, managing pharmacist at Idyllwild Pharmacy, was the guest speaker at the Idyllwild Rotary Club’s weekly meeting, Wednesday, Oct. 10. La Ponza has managed the pharmacy since George Baslious purchased it from owner Barry Shapiro earlier this year. Baslious, a native of Canada who is working on his U.S. pharmacy credentials, was overwhelmed with the number of insurance and drug company contracts that needed to be completed in order to successfully operate our local pharmacy. La Ponza was happy to help. He is enjoying his new role here and residents of the Hill are happy to continue with a local source for their prescription needs. M and K Biker Shop held a memorial ride and celebration in honor of Fred Carlson who was killed in a motorcycle crash on the mountain in June 2017. This year’s event, held on June 23, raised $800, which was donated to Animal Rescue Friends of Idyllwild. Carlson was an animal lover, and shop owners Mark Sordham (left) and Kathy Rockwell (right) knew he would want donated funds to support ARF.
