Last week in “Days of Our Nine Lives,” ARF pets discussed their roles in helping humans accomplish their new year resolutions.
Mr. Gray

Tex: So, who is the new office cat?
Mr. Gray: Good questions. The ARF humans haven’t yet decided, so guess I’ll fill in for now.
Tex: Any adoptions this last weekend? I know I’m still here. Darn it.
Mr. Gray: No adoptions. It was a pretty quiet weekend.
Sadie: Do you know that in 2018, ARF adopted out 45 dogs and 27 cats?
Mr. Gray: I do, and you know, that is a huge number for this small rescue.
Pepper: I hope 2019 ends up beating 2018!
Tex: Someone could adopt me to start 2019 on the right foot. My resolution is to be a loyal, loving member of a family. I promise to keep it!
Sadie: And I heard we have two new ARF dogs.
Pepper: They will be introduced to the world sometime this week. It’s kind of exciting!
Sadie: You know, when ARF cannot take in a new dog or cat, its humans offer assisted adoptions. Sometimes there is no foster available or the cattery is full, so ARF helps to spread the word about these great pets who need a new forever family.
Tex: I’ve seen the assisted adoptions on their web site and Facebook page.
Mr. Gray: It is a great service, for sure. What is the difference in adopting from ARF or from an assisted adoption?
Pepper: ARF pets are adopted when they are current on all vaccinations, microchipped, tested for heart worm, and spayed or neutered. They have medical records that go with them. Assisted adoptions might or might not have all of these things. ARF only shares the info to help find homes for the pets.
Mr. Gray: So regardless, a needy pet finds a forever home.
Be sure to keep up with the animal antics of “Days of Our Nine Lives” each week. And please stop in to say hello to the entire adoptable cast at the ARF House, 26890 Hwy. 243 on Saturdays 10-4 and Sundays 10-2, or by appointment M-F by calling 951-659-1122.
