Readers Write: What is Idyllwild Western Steampunk Symposium & Festival?

On Friday, June14, we drove into Idyllwild and were surprised to see a festival set up in downtown Idyllwild, no street banner or signage, just closed streets.
Due to the festival set up around Idypark, two public streets were closed, Park Lane and Village Center Drive. Consequently, the only driving access to Strawberry Creek shopping area was the narrow alley off Ridgeview.
Residents of Idyllwild and visitors require safe access to the post office, library, pharmacy, Fairway Market and other businesses all located within the Strawberry Creek shopping center.
We are active members of several Idyllwild community organizations and were unaware of a festival scheduled for three days. Just how did this festival obtain a three-day permit that closed two public Idyllwild roads from Friday through Sunday?
