Winter won’t leave
Monday morning and all is well in Idyllwild. The roads and highways were cleared yesterday and this morning sun is appearing behind the mountain.
The forecast for today is “Scattered snow showers before 11am. Mostly cloudy, then gradually becoming sunny, with a high near 42. West wind between 5 and 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 40%. Total daytime snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible.”
Current Cal Trans chain requirements are below:
State Route 74 — Chains or snow tires are required from Mountain Center to Pinyon Pines
1-way controlled traffic at various locations from 5 miles east of Mountain Center to 2 mlles west of the junction of St Rte 371 from 7 a.m to 5 p.m. Monday thru Saturday thru March 24 due to construction. Motorists are subject to delays of up to 15 minutes
State Route 243 — Chains or snow tires are required from the junction of St. Rte 74 to the north boundary of the San Bernardino National Forest
The National Weather Service reports 13 inches of snow in Idyllwild, but I believe it will be much more at higher elevations.
Here’s what it looked like Sunday.
