Why are all these Ducati motorcycles in Idyllwild?

    By December 15, 2014January 21, 2015 Reading Time: 1 minute

Ducati Motor Holding S.p.A. of Bologna, Italy, chose the Palms to Pines Highway between Palm Springs and Idyllwild for its current promotion of its new 2015 Ducati Scrambler. Monday some 35 bright-yellow Scramblers, ridden by journalists from various countries, parked along Village Center Drive to enjoy breakfast and coffee before heading out to Camp Ronald McDonald for a luncheon and their return to Palm Springs. According to Mario Alvisi, the Ducati Scrambler brand director who was leading the group, this is the second of three Palms to Pines promotional trips planned for December, each with journalists from different countries world wide. He stated the Palm Springs – Idyllwild connection was selected because of its gorgeous scenery and interesting roadways for motorcycle travel. They will be shooting photos and videos during each of these trips.

Readers write: Tree lighting feels crushing …

    By December 15, 2014January 21, 2015 Reading Time: 1 minute

Editor:  My wife and I have spent several Thanksgivings in Idyllwild the past 10 years and have enjoyed the Christmas Tree Lighting ceremony. Two years ago, an LA weatherman was the guest emcee and I smelled trouble. We didn’t come last year, but did this year and were disappointed to find roughly 1,500 people there,…

Readers write: Fire Safe Council misleading

    By December 15, 2014January 21, 2015 Reading Time: 2 minutes

Editor:  OK, so there’s a committee that is drafting new laws for us, stricter fire abatement rules and charges. The Mountain Communities Fire Safe Council and its president has gone out of their way recently in the paper to say it’s not us, it’s them. It’s that new committee that’s pushing this, don’t blame us….

Readers write: HUSD shows lack of respect for teachers …

    By December 15, 2014January 21, 2015 Reading Time: 1 minute

Editor:  Regarding Dr. Platter’s laughable defense of the HUSD salary structure (Nov. 27), I don’t imagine she is dim so I can only marvel at her cynicism. She is well aware that no decent teacher spends only the “contract hours” in the classroom. She and the members of the board know quite well the chaos…
