The Art Alliance of Idyllwild (AAI) has commissioned artist T.J. Darwin to restore the beauty of the “Center of Idyllwild” mural on The Fort facing Highway 243. On Monday, Oct. 3, Darwin began by washing the grime off. The mural was built in 1992 and, according to AAI representatives, has not had any improvements during that time. Darwin plans to complete his work by Oct. 18.

The Idyllwild Community Fund (ICF) held its annual gala at the Rainbow Inn on Thursday, Sept. 22 and the watchword, as awards were given to community organizations, was “cooperation.” Speakers during the evening noted that grant recipients often share resources with other Hill organizations in a spirit of cooperation that “pays those gifts forward” to…

Popular jazz singer and famous cowboy actor Herb Jeffries celebrated his 98th birthday in Idyllwild on Saturday, Sept. 24. Jeffries spent the weekend visiting with old friends and was seen Monday morning having breakfast with more friends at Jo’An’s Restaurant.

Children’s author Dr. Seuss came to life when portrayed by Broadway and film actor Duffy Hudson for a large audience at Community Presbyterian Church on Saturday, Sept. 24.
