Autumn in Idyllwild is a treat for the senses. It’s a time of transition and celebration, when the mountain air takes on a pine-scented crispness and the leaves on hardwood trees erupt into a rust-colored backdrop.

It’s also a time when art lovers and wine connoisseurs gather in the mile-high village for the Art Alliance of Idyllwild’s 14th Annual Art Walk and Wine Tasting.

The event is one of Idyllwild’s most celebrated events of the year. Festivities include special art exhibits, live music, mouth-watering treats and wine, including old favorites and new releases from more than two dozen California wineries.

Visual artists will be on hand to demonstrate various techniques and both professionals and students of dance and music will perform at galleries along the route. Idyllwild’s Middle Ridge Winery is sponsoring the event.

The 2011 Art Walk and Wine Tasting takes place from 2 to 5 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 8. A commemorative wineglass will be your ticket to taste the finest offerings from California wineries including:
