The U.S. Forest Service has waived fees for the Martin Luther King Jr. Day weekend. visiting the San Jacinto Ranger District will cost you gas and food, but trails are free this weekend from today through Monday.

Mike Sherman, new interim chief of Idyllwild Fire
Last night, Jan. 10, retired Crest Forest Fire Chief Mike Sherman agreed to become the interim Fire Chief for the Idyllwild Fire Protection District. He agreed to contract terms during the regular January commission meeting and the signed the contract after the meeting.
