    According to Idyllwild Fire Chief Patrick Reitz, “Idyllwild dodged a bullet” because of the fuel breaks. He said that not only the fuel breaks helped, but cooperating winds and aggressive air attacks contributed. The chief gave the Forest Service much credit.     According to USFS PIO Kate Kramer, we can thank the Southridge, Westridge and Shady fuel breaks for keeping the Cranston Fire from burning Idyllwild.  The fire is traveling east.     Cranston Fire Update: Thursday 7:10 a.m.

    According to 6:31 a.m. Cal Fire Update (no longer available) Fire had burned 6,773 acres and was 10 percent contained.
