By Mimi and Hooch

Come on over to ARF to celebrate because October is Adopt a Shelter Dog Month. Our dogs and cats will be wagging tails and purring tunes all month to help you find the perfect pet. For every dog adoption, we will include dog treats and a CD from Cesar Millan, the renowned dog whisperer, with tips for adding a new pet to your pack. With every cat adoption, we will include a “get started” package that includes cat toys, litter and cat food. Always included, of course, is the forever love you receive from your 4-legged companion.

Missy
Missy, the Australian shepherd/pit mix has her bone packed and is ready for someone to fall in love with her. A young female with good energy, she was abandoned and left to starve. Now her energy is in the present and focused on who will play with her. Good on the leash and learning basic commands, she will be a loyal friend and playmate for a lifetime.

Annie
Can you make Annie fall for you? Capable of trust and love, she is wondering who will be the lucky person that will enjoy her snuggles in the cold days ahead. Annie is good with other dogs and cats, and absolutely loves wearing sweaters. She is a min pin/Chihuahua mix, about 1-1⁄2 years old.
Tara
Tara’s fur is as white as the snow, with a little touch of fall color. About 5 years old, she is a white Maine coon mix with calico tail and ears. Aware of her beauty, Tara welcomes your touch. A true diva, she is sure dogs are only good for drooling, but will accept other felines if she has to. Tara is declawed.

ARF has many cats and dogs available for adoption or foster. Cali, Polly and Granite wonder why they are still orphans. All good cats, each with their own personalities, they will be the purr-fect pets. Each hopes a special person will come along and will soon be wondering how they ever lived without their special pet.

ARF is open Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Sundays from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Call for appointment on any other day at (951) 659-1122. All pets are spayed, neutered, and current on shots. Email and donation opportunities are at www.idyllwildarf.org or email [email protected].

Creature corner is sponsored this week by Dog Bijou. To sponsor the column, call Shane Fender at the Town Crier, 659-2145.
