Idyllwild Fire Chief Norm Walker has officially resigned effective Saturday, Dec. 31, 2011.

“He is voluntarily resigning as of 12-31-2011,” wrote Jeannine Charles-Stigall, president of the Idyllwild Fire Protection District.

The Idyllwild grinding facility will be closed Mondays from Dec. 5 through April 24, 2017. Weekday operations will continue on Wednesdays and Fridays from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. (closed noon to 1 p.m. for lunch). The facility will resume Monday operations on May 1, 2017. The Riverside County District Attorney’s office has charged Ron Kimmerle, 49, of Pine Cove, with four felony counts, two for burglary and two for receiving stolen property. Kimmerle remains in custody at Southwest Detention Center in Murietta pending a June 1 felony settlement conference.
