dyllwild Fire Protection Department crews responded to a structure fire Thursday around 12:30 p.m. in the 5400 block of North Circle Drive.

The house belongs to Lloyd Wood, former Idyllwild Postmaster. His daughter, Linda Richardson, started a fire in the wood burning stove to "take the chill off the house." The Woods were not home at the time.

The fire was first noticed by Brendan Collier, owner of the Hub across from the Woods' home. Collier said he noticed heavy, acrid smoke coming from across the street. He advised Richardson and then saw flames shooting out of the chimney. Collier started hosing the flames while Richardson called the fire department.
