In response to the letter from Merrie VonSeggern [about the Southern California Edison proposed fee increase in the May 3 issue of the Town Crier], I hate to say it, but that fee difference of $2 is nothing. Just wait.
California Assembly Bill 32 is not fully implemented yet and when it is in place, expect even bigger changes to come. [AB 32 is a California law that fights climate change by establishing a comprehensive program to reduce greenhouse gas emissions from all sources throughout the state. It was approved Sept. 27, 2006.]
According to the California Chamber of Commerce, “California families will be facing increased annual costs of $3,857 and consumers will be forced to cut discretionary spending by 26.2 percent in order to cope with the increased costs generated by the scoping plan.”
