Town Hall Sports Coordinator Jeremy Teeguarden reported on Town Hall Youth baseball for the week of June 11.

T-Ball League
Tuesday, June 12, was the last game for Idyllwilds littlest baseball players. The American Legion Dodgers played the Rotary Padres. Both teams played great and made a bunch of good plays. Carter McLean hit the ball really well in both of his turns at bat for the Padres. The Dodgers Ethan Sheppard played great in the field. Following the game the players from all three teams recieved their trophies.

Minor League
The championship game was Monday, June 11. The Suburban Propane Rangers won the playoff game to earn the opportunity to meet the Shell Astros in the Cchampionship game.

Both teams showed how much they had improved during the year as they got outs at all the bases. The Astros took the lead in the first inning as Ethan Teeguarden knocked in Johnny Fuentes. The Rangers came back in the third inning with three runs as Lilah Whitney and Emma Righetti each scored a run and Michael Stroud drove in another run. The Rangers tacked on another run when Fernando Maldanado scored. Trailing 4-2 in the fourth inning, the Astros got big hits from Cody Fogle and Layton Teeguarden to tie the game at four runs each. As the game entered the last inning, the Astros held the Rangers scoreless in the top of the inning. With the bases loaded and two outs, Fatima Guzman’s hit scored Lilliana Sorenson with the wining run. The Astros won the Minor’s Championship 5-4.

Major League
On Monday June 11, the Higher Grounds Rays and the Green Cafe Cubs had a one-game playoff to determine which team went to the championship game. The Cubs scored right off the bat as Aaron Potter and Aly Fogle each had nice hits and Zach Fogle knocked in a run. The Rays came right back with two runs in the next inning as Josh Gray and Sierra Barnett each got nice hits and scored. The Rays’ Noah Rutherford settled down after the first inning and pitched a great game. For the rest of the game, the only run he gave up was Jake Gurlings’ home run. The Rays kept tacking on runs as they went on to win 12-3 and advance to Tuesday’s championship game.

The championship game pitted the Wooley’s Orioles against the Higher Grounds Rays. The Rays struck first in the second inning. After Rylan Hardy’s hit, Cody Espinoza’s home run plated two runs. The Orioles came back the next inning. Seth Clowers got a leadoff home run to help propel the Orioles. Lauren Badger scored the last run in a big five-run inning. The Orioles’ Ty Bride pitched awesome the rest of the game and only gave up one more run. The Orioles added some late-inning runs and went on to win the championship game 10-3.

Anyone interested in playing adult softball should contact Town Hall. There will be a coaches meeting 6 p.m., Friday, June 22 at Town Hall. The adult softball season will begin after the 4th of July.
