Wendy Read coached Hemet’s AYSO under 10-girls spring select team this spring, The team finished first during the season and in the Thunderbird tournament in Moreno Valley. At the end-of-season playoffs, after two overtimes, the championship game was still tied. Unfortunately, the girls lost the shoot out by one goal. Local Idyllwild resident Shelby Read (bottom right) was on the team.
Shane Fender, Town Crier Advertising sales representative, took first place at the annual American Legion Post 800 Horseshoe Tournament for the second year in a row. Fender took first-place honors with randomly chosen partner Chad Marler. According to tournament rules, all partners are chosen randomly. Thirty-two players competed.
