After beginning the 2013 season on the PGA Tour with six consecutive cuts made, Brendan Steele seems to have hit a flat spot. The native Idyllwilder has now missed the cut in four straight tournaments, including the recent Colonial in Irving, Texas, and last week’s Memorial in Dublin, Ohio.

A current problem appears to be proximity to the hole on approaches, and his putter has not been able to make up for it.

He still needs to win more official money or FedEx Cup points in order to earn his ticket for the new 2013-2014 season that begins in the fall.

In good news, Steele this week qualified for the U.S. Open Championship from June 13 to 16 at the Merion Golf Club in Ardmore, Pa.

Steele will attempt to turn it around this week in the FedEx St. Jude Classic in Memphis.
