On Tuesday afternoon, Dec. 10, the Idyllwild Fire Department responded to a traffic collision on Highway 243 near the Strawberry Creek Bunkhouse. Upon arrival, firefighters found a Toyota FJ Cruiser blocking the northbound lane of Highway 243. Upon investigation, IFPD discovered that the vehicle had rolled off the private property directly above the highway after the owner exited the vehicle, possibly failing to engage the parking brake and/or take the vehicle out of gear. The vehicle landed on the highway, causing major damage to the vehicle, but the roadway was not damaged.
