Donald J. Harrison died in December 2013 at home in Idyllwild. Dr. Harrison graduated from Monrovia, Arcadia, Duarte High School in 1948. He received his associate degree from Pasadena City College in 1950, and transferred to the University of Southern California, receiving his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in 1957. He received his education doctorate in 1972.

Dr. Harrison was a veteran of the U.S. Naval Reserve, 1947-53, and served on active duty in England with the U.S. Army from 1953 to 1955.

Dr. Harrison retired as a distinguished emeritis professor from College of the Desert in Palm Desert following 32 years in his beloved classroom.

Dr. Harrison was a member of Delta Alpha Epsilon; National Honoray Business Education Fraternity; and SCORE, Hemet chapter. He was editor of “CLIP,” the California Business Education Association Newsletter, Southern Section, and an officer with the U.S. Power Squadron at Redondo Beach.

Dr. Harrison was an avid sailor and scuba diver, spending much of his time diving with his family in Cozumel, Mexico.

He is survived by his wife Estela and sons Blake (Luz) and Gregory (Nilsa), and his beloved granddaughter Alyssa.
