Cheri M. Bentley-Buckman of Palm Springs and Idyllwild passed away Saturday, Oct. 21, 2017.

Born in Kilgore, Texas, on Sept. 1, 1941, she was an avid writer/poet and was published in several journals.

Cheri was passionate about the Idyllwild Arts Academy and was on its board of trustees since 2007. She was an active member of Summer Poetry in Idyllwild, Palm Springs Writers Guild, National League of American Pen Women and Romance Writers of America. Cheri was also an ER and trauma volunteer at Desert Regional Medical Center in Palm Springs.

Cheri is survived by her husband Charles Buckman, children Hartwell Bentley and Deborah (Bentley) Mattern, stepchildren Karl Buckman and Kim Buckman, seven grandchildren, and one great-grandson.

A memorial service will be planned by Idyllwild Arts at a later date. In lieu of flowers, tax-deductible donations may be made to Idyllwild Arts at www.idyllwildarts.org/giving/.
