Brendan Steele came back from a long rest to shoot a 3-under par 73-67-70-75 — 285 in the Zurich Classic of New Orleans last week to tie for 52nd place. The Idyllwild native now stands 66th on the FedExCup points list with 408.

Steele ranks high on the PGA Tour this season in some interesting statistical categories, including approaches from more than 200 yards (seventh) and scrambling (13th). He also has the third lowest round score of the season with a 62.

This week Steele plays in the $6.9 million Wells Fargo Championship on the Quail Hollow course in Charlotte, North Carolina, with more than $1.2 million going to the winner.
