29Jim Crandall, Palms to Pines Golf Association handicap chair, provided this report about the Friday, May 22, regular monthly golf tournament, which was held at the Temeku Hills Legends Course in Temecula.
It was a cool, cloudy day with rain showers and drizzle, but not enough to delay play.
Jerry Daquila (course handicap 26) shot a net 67 for first place, Pete Capparelli (24) and Dave Robb (16) tied for second with net 69s; Lev Sanford (25) took fourth with a net 70, and Barry Wallace rounded out the top five with a net 71.
The closest-to-the-pin winners on the four par 3s were Wallace on hole no. 3, Crandall on no. 6, Scott Schroeder on no. 11 and Robb on hole 15, who also won the low gross side pot with an 85.

Points are awarded at each tournament as follows: first place, 6 points; second place, 4 points; third place, 3 points; fourth place, 2 points; fifth place, 1 point. Also, one-half point is awarded to everyone who participates.
The top eight-point finishers of the year go into match-play playoffs for the club championship in August, September and October. A member has to compete in at least five regular-season tournaments to qualify for the playoffs.
The club is a member of the Southern California Golf Association and is sanctioned to establish SCGA handicaps for members.
