An open letter to the people of Idyllwild: Much appreciation for the wonderful few days we recently enjoyed in your town. It was our first visit to Idyllwild which only last year appeared on our radar.

Many of our friends in San Diego had heard of Idyllwild but no one seemed to have visited.

We spent our time “in town” the entire visit, including one day at the Jazz in the Pines festival.

Our Idyllwild Inn cabin had no need for “hotel art” as it was decorated with carvings dating from the ’60s. One couple had not slept a wink.

We experienced fabulous foods (and great service) at the Gastrognome, Cafe Aroma, the new Fratello’s, and especially Idyology. We failed to buy enough chicken jerky from Idyllwild Ice Cream.

Best of all were people who made our visit especially memorable: Denise at Wooley’s, Kim at Stop Light Treasures ’n’ Rusty Junk, Celeste and Colleen at Artspresso Gallery, Don at Fern Valley Emporium and, of course, the owner of Into The Woods.

We certainly did our part in supporting Idyllwild’s local economy. You’re welcome.
