Jim Crandall, Palms to Pines Golf Association handicap chair, gave this report about the Friday, Oct. 16, regular monthly golf tournament and club playoffs held at Menifee Lakes Golf Course on the Palms links.

In the final round of match-play playoffs, Pete Capparelli (course handicap 22) beat Lee Lanfried (22) to win the club championship for 2015.

Capparelli will go on to represent the club in the Southern California Tournament of Club Champions in December. His name will also be inscribed on the Bob Stearns Memorial Trophy, reserved for club champions.

In the regular tourney, Capparelli tied with Barry Wallace (11) for first place with net 67, Crandall (11) took third with a net 71, Pete Holzman (10) took fourth with a net 77, and John King (26) and Tony Viola (21) tied for fifth with net 80s.

Wallace also won the low-gross side pot with his 78.

The closest-to-the-pin winners on the four par 3s were Wallace on holes number 7 and 15, and Lanfried on no. 12. No one hit the green on number 3.
