Jim Crandall, Palms to Pines Golf Association handicap chair, provided this report about the Friday, April 15, monthly golf tournament played at the Palm Desert Resort Country Club.

Winds were gusting up to 40 mph, but the course was in good shape.

Bob Baker (course handicap 31) took first place with a net 68, John LoGiudice (23) and Dave Robb (14) tied for second with net 71s, and John Brower (11) and Lee Lanfried (22) tied for fourth with net 72s.

The closest-to-the-pin winners on the four par 3s were Barry Zander on hole no. 4, Pete Holzman on hole no. 6, Robb on hole no. 12 and Lanfried on hole no. 16. Brower won the low-gross side pot with his gross 83.

The 2015-16 season runs from August 2015 through July 2016.

Points are awarded at each tournament as follows: first place, 6 points; second place, 4 points; third place, 3 points; fourth place, 2 points; fifth place, 1 point. Also, one-half point is awarded to everyone who participates.

A member has to compete in at least five regular-season tournaments to qualify for the playoffs.

The club is a member of the Southern California Golf Association and is sanctioned to establish SCGA handicaps for members.
